The son of NASCAR driver Morgan Shepherd pleaded guilty Tuesday to five counts of felony indecent liberties with a minor.

A Catawba County grand jury indicted 40-year-old Clay Morgan Shepherd Jr., of Hickory, on one of the charges in 2006.

On Tuesday, Superior Court Judge Robert Bell sentenced Shepherd to six months in prison, to be followed by three years’ probation. Shepherd will also have to register as a sex offender and undergo a sex offender evaluation and treatment.

According to the district attorney’s office, the charges involved multiple female victims under the age of 16. The incidents happened between 2005 and 2008.
