Chase already on a lot of drivers' minds

The Associated Press

Thursday, May. 22, 2008

There are 15 races left before the Chase, but a lot of drivers have those top-12 positions for the post-season in mind.

Kyle Busch, leading the Cup points, says where drivers are ranked following Sunday's 600-mile race will be a key to who will make the Chase.

"Wherever you leave the 600, you're going to be plus or minus five positions at the end of the year," Busch said. "You can either gain five or lose five (spots) from wherever you are at after the 600. For us, we've been able to be fast everywhere and, luckily, we've came out of the box strong."

Busch, in his first season driving Toyotas for Joe Gibbs Racing, already has three victories, including wins at Talladega and Darlington over the past three races. Overall, he has seven top-fives and eight top-10s.
