Aflac will be the primary sponsor for Carl Edwards' No. 99 Fords beginning with the 2009 season, the company announced Wednesday morning.
Edwards has already been affiliated with the sponsor, driving eight races with Aflac as his primary sponsor this year. Edwards won at Texas earlier this year in the Aflac car. He also appears in television commercials for the company.
Office Depot has been Edwards' primary sponsor in Cup competition. The new deal with Aflac is described as a multiyear contract.
"We look forward to our expanded relationship with Carl Edwards and the world-class team at Roush Fenway Racing," said Paul S. Amos II, president of Aflac. "Our sponsorship has helped put Aflac in front of businesses of every size and consumers throughout the United States. We are confident that increasing our involvement with this great motorsports leader will only continue to help our business grow."
Aflac will be on Edwards' car for five more races this year, at Pocono in June, Daytona and Indianapolis in July, California at August and Lowe's Motor Speedway in October.
