Montoya gets a 3rd crew chief for 2008 season

The Charlotte Observer

Tuesday, May. 20, 2008

Sprint Cup Series driver Juan Pablo Montoya has another new crew chief.

Effective immediately, Brian Pattie will take over as crew chief for Montoya and his No. 42 Dodge for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, team officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The crew chief will be the third in as many weeks for Montoya. Montoya's former crew chief, Donnie Wingo, swapped places with the crew chief of teammate Reed Sorenson, Jimmy Elledge, in late April.

On Tuesday, Elledge left the organization and was replaced by Pattie, who has worked with Ganassi's Nationwide Series teams.

Montoya is currently 16th in points with just one top-10 finishes this season, a second at the April 27 race at Talladega, Ala.

He was hired in late 2006 by Ganassi after leaving the Formula One series, and won two races last season - one each at NASCAR's Cup and Nationwide levels.
