CONCORD, N.C. - They may be brothers, but it took took Kurt and Kyle Busch many months to get over their on-track in last season's Sprint All-Star Race.
In the final segment of the race, Kyle Busch, Jeff Burton and Kurt Busch were going three-wide through turns 3 and 4.
As Burton dropped back, the Busch brothers ended up side-by-side entering Turn 1, with Kyle on the inside. Neither gave an inch and the two wrecked, cutting the night short for both.
"I think it took him a while longer just because he felt that was taken away from him, that he was supposed to win the race," Kurt said of his younger brother.
"I think he's come full circle and realized that two brothers can make a mistake and blood is thicker than anything else out there."
Kurt said they two first spoke the week after the race. "He said, 'So, you're apologizing to me?' and I said 'Not necessarily.'
"So we're still trying to do that 50-50 (blame) thing."
Kyle said the two made amends after their grandmother asked them to work out their differences for the Christmas holiday.
"It was a little edgy to begin with because that was about the first time we'd ever sat down together," Kyle said of Christmas dinner.
"The more it kind of went, the more it kind of got back to normal and friendly and whatever. By the end of the night we were playing games and everything anyway."
