Jarrett ‘golden’ for all-star race

The Charlotte Observer

Wednesday, Mar. 19, 2008

Dale Jarrett said that when he was deciding how to wrap up his career as a Sprint Cup driver this season he selected the Sprint All-Star Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway to be the finish because it was his “insurance policy.”

“If we would have said Bristol was going to be the final race and I would have gone out there and had some type of problem and not made it – how do you want to finish like that?” Jarrett said.

“I figured with the All-Star race, I’m in.”

Jarrett announced Tuesday that he’ll drive a metallic-gold car in the race on May 17 when his "Signed, Sealed, Delivered Tour" culminates with that final appearance.

Lowe’s Motor Speedway will sell a special two-day, $44 ticket “DJ’s Deal” package to match his car number that will allow fans to see Friday night’s qualifying and the N.C. Lottery 200 Craftsman Truck Series race and then the all-star event the following night.

On Tuesday of that week, Jarrett will be inducted into the track’s Court of Legends. At that occasion one fan who purchases “DJ’s Deal” tickets or sends a postcard labeled "DJ's Ride-Along" to Lowe's Motor Speedway, P.O. Box 600, Concord, N.C. 28026 will be selected in a drawing to take a ride around the Charlotte track in the UPS “race truck” from television commercials with Jarrett at the wheel.

Fans entering by postcard must include their complete name, address, day and night phone numbers and e-mail address on each entry.

To buy tickets, call the track’s ticket office at (800) 455-FANS or go online to www.lowesmotorspeedway.com.
