Q: If a race begins under a green/caution condition, like if the track needs to be dried, does the pole sitter still get the 5 points for leading a lap even though there has not been any up-to-speed racing?

A: I still cover NASCAR. I am also the beat writer for UNC Charlotte athletics for The Observer and I am currently finishing up college basketball season. Q: Jim, Are the teams issued a fixed number of tires per race? If the track eats up the tires, are they allowed to buy more, or could they use tires left over from practice? Is practice at the race venue the first time they get to try out that model?
