Q: If the rule book says that all positions are frozen at the time a caution occurs, why don't all cars come off pit road in the same position as they went in?

A: Pitting is optional. If all the cars remained on the track, they would remain in their "frozen" positions.Submitted by Pat from NC
Q: In Richmond or Martinsville ( don't know the year ) we had the same rain problems as at Fontana Sunday, They STARTED the race & Jeff Gordon wrecked, They let Jeff get his back up car out, he got his position back, didnot go a lap down, then restarted the race over.. Why didn't these drivers in Fontana race, get the same deal?

Q: When NASCAR docks a driver 100 points in the first race of the year, doesn't that basically knock that driver out of the Chase?

Q: I thought that the only difference in the "car of tomorrow" between teams was the decals that make them look kinda like a Ford or Dodge or whatever. I'm a little confused that Robby Gordon had a nose that Dodge had asked for approval of. Was it a different decal package or actually a physically different shape? I was under the impression that the only difference between cars was the engine and EVERYTHING else was the same. Come to think about it, since this is NASCAR, maybe eveything is still the same--a little tweak for their friends and a little shaft for their not so friends.
Answered 02/24/08 18:11:43 by Chad Sitler
A: The noses of each of the cars are different in shape. There are different decals, but the design of the noses are different as well. The nose and shapes of side windows are the last areas that reflect individual manufacturer characteristics.Submitted by andy from waynesboro va

Q: Jim, When Ryan Newman refers to the "push" Kurt Busch gave him to win Daytona, what exactly is he referring to? That is, did the #2 car's front bumper touch the #12's rear bumper and remain in contact for a period? Or is he referring to the drafting advantage when two cars run very close together and hold the same line?
Answered 02/22/08 04:32:50 by Chad Sitler
A: He is referring to an actual push. Kurt Busch drove up behind Newman and tapped his rear bumper, allowing him to increase his speed. This technique is also called "bump drafting."Submitted by Anonymous from St. Charles MN
