Independent retailer announces new contest for NASCAR fans

BIRMINGHAM - As hopes for a bright Christmas dim for many American families, Racing USA has announced plans to award $1,000 to a lucky NASCAR fan who makes a purchase at RacingUSA.com during November.

According to David Carrington, president of the independent retailer, "the National Retail Federation's 2008 Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey indicated that consumers plan on spending an average of $832.36 this year on holiday shopping. This cash gift will make one family's Christmas a very merry one."

Racing USA is an independently owned store dealing in NASCAR-themed products and other goods and is based near Birmingham, Ala. The company gained attention earlier in the year when it promised employees they would pay no more than $2.85 for a gallon for fuel used during their work commutes.
