New to the SIRIUS NASCAR Radio lineup in 2008 is an exclusive daily talk show hosted by Danny “Chocolate” Myers, the popular former crew member for the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and SIRIUS host Steve Post. Tradin’ Paint debuted January 1, 2008 and will air every weekday from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm ET exclusively on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio.
Long after his colorful and storied career on pit road, the larger-than-life Myers remains one of the most popular figures in the world of stock car racing. From 1986 until 2001, Chocolate served as the Gas Man on the famous #3 GM Goodwrench Chevy driven by the legendary Dale Earnhardt, Sr. In that time, Myers was a member of “The Flying Aces” pit crew for six of the Intimidator’s seven championships. Steve Post began hosting on SIRIUS in 2007 and will continue to host Press Pass Saturdays throughout the year on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio as well as the SIRIUS NASCAR Radio Post-Race Show live from the track each week. The native of Hallstead, PA has been a pit road reporter for Motor Racing Network Radio since 2003.
SIRUS will also debut a new nighttime show during Daytona 500 week, Late Shift, which will be hosted throughout the year by Rick Benjamin and Buddy Baker. Late Shift will premiere Wednesday, Feb. 13 (9:00 pm – midnight ET) and air Wednesday and Thursday nights (8:00 – 11:00 pm ET after Daytona 500) throughout the year exclusively on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio.
Hall of Famer Buddy Baker won 19 races in a highlight-filled career and was named one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998. His 1980 Daytona 500 win remains the fastest Daytona 500 ever run, with an average speed of 177.602 mph. Baker was a regular host on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio last year. Rick Benjamin began covering motorsports in the 1980s. He calls the on-track action of the Champ Car World Series, the Champ Car Atlantics, the USAR Hooters Pro Cup stock cars, and the World of Outlaws Late Model stock cars and has hosted NASCAR Cup events for TBS and called road racing events for ESPN.
With the addition of Late Shift, SIRIUS NASCAR Radio extends its programming schedule to a minimum of 15 hours of live talk every weekday.
Tradin’ Paint and Late Shift are part of SIRIUS NASCAR Radio’s exclusive talk lineup, providing NASCAR fans with the most comprehensive radio coverage available all year long. Tradin’ Paint is preceded every weekday by The Morning Drive (7:00 – 11:00 am ET), hosted by Mike Bagley and David Poole, and followed by SIRIUS Speedway (3:00 – 7:00 pm ET), hosted by Dave Moody.
NASCAR Collector, the weekly collectibles program that launched in 2007, will be extended to a two-hour weekly program in 2008. Pat Patterson hosts a new weekly show Monday nights entitled Happy Hour and Mojo Nixon’s Manifold Destiny moves to Tuesday nights.
