CONCORD, N.C. - Cadillac completed a one-two finish as road racing ace Andy Pilgrim won Thursday night's SCCA Pro Racing Speed World Challenge GT Championship at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Pilgrim's win was his first since Road Atlanta last season and his sixth career victory.
"That Cadillac ran hard," Pilgrim said. "My foot was is on fire my foot was so hard on the brake. We knew brake fade would probably be our only issue in the race."
Fellow Cadillac driver and reigning series champion Lawson Aschenbach finished second. Randy Propst in a Porshe 911 GT-3 finished third.
The series typically runs only on road courses, but two chicanes were added to the 1.5-mile oval at Lowe's to force the teams to slow down. To address tire wear issues, the race was split into two 20-minute sessions with a mandatory pit stop during the intermission.
