The Associated Press

Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008

BELDING, Mich. - A 72-year-old racer was killed Saturday at the Grattan Raceway in northern Kent County.

WOOD-TV said Jack Drews was running about 110 mph when he lost control of his 1961 Triumph in a turn and crashed into an embankment.

Drews' son was racing right behind him, the TV station said. Drews was from western Illinois.

An investigation was continuing.
