Stewart confirms plans, sponsors and number, saluting A.J. Foyt

The Charlotte Observer

Friday, Jul. 25, 2008

INDIANAPOLIS - As expected, Tony Stewart on Friday unveiled the No. 14 Chevrolet sponsored by Office Depot and Old Spice he plans to drive next season, his first with the Stewart-Haas Racing team he co-owns.

Stewart also said that his teammate - yet to be announced - will drive the No. 4 Chevrolet. Stewart picked his number, he said, in honor of his mentor A.J. Foyt, who found success in the IndyCar Series, NASCAR, U.S. Auto Club and sports car racing.

"A.J. has always been my hero and will always be No. 1 on my hero list, with the best part being that we are really good friends," Stewart said. "We obviously have a tremendous amount of respect for one another.

"I remember him calling me after I won my first Cup championship in 2002 and I remember how much it meant to have him call that night and congratulate me."
