Notes | Engine builders' race moves to semifinals

A couple of quickies from the all-star weekend notebook:

• Trey Davis and Brian Buttrick from Roush Yates Racing Engines will face Dennis Borem and Darrell Hoffman from Pro Motor Engines in one of Monday's semifinals in the annual Engine Builder Showdown. Jim Snyder and Mike Kasch from Roush Yates engines will face Mike Maiwald and Shane Parsnow from Hendrick Motorsports. The winning teams will meet in Tuesday's final. The semifinals and final will be held at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville.

• Richard Petty will mark the 50th anniversary of his first NASCAR start on July 12 at Chicagoland Speedway by giving special guests rides around the track during the Life Lock 400 weekend. Petty's first start came in the convertible division at Columbia Speedway on July 12, 1958. The team's No. 43 and No. 45 Dodges will also carry throwback paint schemes in the race.
