Inspection update | 'Issue' found on No. 99

The Charlotte Observer

Sunday, Mar. 02, 2008

There was an “issue” with Carl Edwards’ No. 99 Ford in the inspection following his victory in Sunday’s UAW-Dodge 500.

NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said the “lid on oil reservoir encasement – the oil tank box - was found off of the car.”

Poston said the car would be taken to NASCAR’s research and development center in Concord, N.C., for further checks. Determination of any penalties would be made following that.

Five teams in the Nationwide Series were each fined $15,000 and 25 points for not having covers securely fastened in the race at Daytona in that series. They also were each suspended for six races.
