BRISTOL, Tenn. -- NASCAR already has learned one piece of valuable information from the debut this weekend of its "Car of Tomorrow" in the Nextel Cup Series.
After a day-long process of inspection on Thursday -- which concluded about 9 p.m. Eastern -- NASCAR has decided to bring teams in a day early at Martinsville, Va., to allow extra time for the inspection process.
Martinsville is the next schedule race using the COT. Teams will now enter next Thursday morning for inspection only, NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said.
Ward Burton's Chevrolet was the final car through inspection Thursday night at Bristol, finishing shortly after 9 p.m. According to NASCAR officials, teams were averaging about one hour each to complete the entire inspection process.
