The wreck involving Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch provided the only drama of the day. After they tangled on the frontstretch of Lap 271, Busch tried to pass Stewart, who didn't give him any room.
After the accident, Busch drove next to Stewart's car on pit road -- forcing a Stewart crew member to jump on to the hood of his car. Busch drove away, smoking his tires. NASCAR then parked Busch.
"I raced the guy all day and for some reason he didn't give an inch," said Busch. "We raced about 15 laps there side-by-side and I had about 90 percent of my car past him and he wrecked me flat out. I was maybe not clear by a few inches, but he bumped me on another restart.
"I had no idea what Tony Stewart had for us today. He finally wrecked me. He got accomplished what he wanted to do. I'm still very confused by it."
Said Stewart: "I've never tried to wreck him. It's about racing people with respect and he hasn't done that for a year. There are only a couple of bad apples out there and he's one of them. You don't see me having problems with Mark Martin and the guys that run up front every week. His brother (Kyle Busch) figured it out and (we) have gotten along great and have no problems."
Of Kurt Busch's uncomfortably close pit-road stop alongside his car, Stewart said, "I didn't see him until the last minute, but he about hit one of our crew guys. So that was self-explanatory, I think."
