  • N.C. Motorsports Association salutes Hickory track, others in industry with 2nd annual awards

    Hickory Motor Speedway received the event facilities award Thursday night as the N.C. Motorsports Association presented its second annual honors.

    The Sprint Media Tour hosted by Lowe's Motor Speedway will begin Monday, and as usual the first day's schedule includes a visit to the NASCAR research and development center in Concord.

    NHRA reportedly planning PowerAde Series event at new Concord drag strip

    Racing in the Charlotte area is going straight in 2008. ... Although no official announcement has been made, it's an open secret that a "to be announced" event on the National Hot Rod Association's PowerAde Series schedule for Sept. 11-14 is planned for a new drag strip to be built across the highway from the 1.5-mile speedway.
