Kobalt Tools 400

What: 267 laps or 400.5 miles

Where: Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a 1.5-mile slightly banked, paved quad-oval located in Las Vegas, Nev.

When: 3:15 p.m. ET Sunday

Last year’s winner: Matt Kenseth

Also this week: Sam’s Town 300, Nationwide Series, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 4:15 p.m. ET Saturday, ESPN2.

Worth mentioning: Although they don’t mean nearly as much as they once did with the new Chase format, Dale Earnhardt Jr. leads the Sprint Cup series standings for the second week in a row, followed by Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson.

Who’s Hot/Who’s Not

HOT

Kevin Harvick: In just his second race with Stewart-Haas Racing, Harvick wins a race and all but guarantees a spot in the Chase.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.: A first and a second to start the season – that works!

Jeff Gordon: Gordon hasn’t started a season with a pair of top-five finishes since 1997.

Brad Keselowski: Certainly has mastered this new NASCAR qualifying procedure.

Kyle Busch: Has already won 50 percent of the Nationwide races he’s entered this season.

Regan Smith: Two races into the Nationwide season, he maintains the series points lead.

NOT

Danica Patrick: She’s wrecked in every race this season.

Toyota: One driver in the Top 10 at Phoenix.

Ryan Reed: Rough start to his Nationwide season – two races and two wrecks.
