Jeremy Mayfield’s former house to be burned Saturday

Staff Report
Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013

The Catawba County house once owned by former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield will be burned to the ground Saturday, according to a WSOC-TV report.

Mayfield and his wife were evicted from the house in November 2012, after the home went into foreclosure. The Mayfields purchased the 12,000-square-foot mansion in 2006 for $3.8 million. The mansion, with seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, is in the 6300 block of Hudson Chapel Road.

Mayfield has been suspended from NASCAR after failing a drug test in 2009.

In the WSOC story, neighbors said the house was been neglected in recent years, and that the new owner of the property did not want to keep the structure.

According to WSOC, the structure will be burned as part of a practice drill for the Catawba Fire Department.
