Danica: No Indy 500 this year
Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Danica Patrick confirmed Thursday that she will not attempt to run the 2013 Indianapolis 500 and will focus on her first full-time season in NASCARs Sprint Cup Series.
"I am just going to do the Coke 600. The team and I decided to focus on Cup. Its going to be plenty of work as it is," she said. "Its going to be important for me running for the championship full time for the first time to really keep myself focused with the Cup car.
"But if I do the Indy 500 moving forward it will be with GoDaddy (as sponsor)."
Patrick said she was also in negotiations with Turner Scott Motorsports to run a limited schedule in the Nationwide Series in 2013.
"We are definitely talking to them, trying to figure it out and we are definitely working on that, but there has been nothing signed yet," she said.
"The exact dates, the races and the sponsor have yet to be confirmed for all that. We are working on it, but I would like to."
Patrick, a former IndyCar Series fan favorite, had previously stated a desire to try the "double" running the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.
