2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame selections

The third class of honorees will be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Friday night. The new members are:

RICHIE EVANS: Called the king of NASCAR's modified racing series, Evans was a nine-time champion of the modified division, including a stretch from 1978 through 1985 when he won eight consecutive championships.

DALE INMAN: The first crew chief inducted, Inman won 193 races, most with Richard Petty. He was crew chief on eight championships on NASCAR's top level, seven with Petty and one with Terry Labonte.

DARRELL WALTRIP: One of the great drivers of his generation, Waltrip is tied for fourth on the all-time victory list with 84 wins at the Cup level with three series championships. After retiring, Waltrip became a highly successful television analyst.

GLEN WOOD: He was part of the dynamic Wood Brothers racing family that helped shape the sport. As a driver, he won four races, but as a team owner he was part of more than 90 wins with drivers that included David Pearson, Curtis Turner, Junior Johnson and Cale Yarborough.

CALE YARBOROUGH : With 83 career wins, he ranks sixth on the all-time victory list and became the first driver to win three straight championships starting in 1976.
