Hall's visitor count down again

The NASCAR Hall of Fame lost $177,450 in August on attendance of 16,703 people, according to financial information released Wednesday by the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.
Those attendance numbers show a 27 percent decline compared with August 2010, when 23,539 people visited the hall.
But that is actually an improvement over recent months.
In May, June and July, year-over-year attendance declines were greater than 30 percent. In addition, the hall lost $280,000 in August 2010.
Part of the hall’s loss in August 2011 was covered by the city of Charlotte, which reimbursed the hall $41,000 for maintenance expenses.
For the first two months of the fiscal year, the hall has lost $365,764. Its reimbursements from the city have meant its deficit is only $280,188.
