Martin says season won't be his last
Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011
While 2011 is Mark Martin's final season as a full-time Sprint Cup Series driver for Hendrick Motorsports, he made it clear Wednesday it will not be his final season of racing.
"I am absolutely, without a doubt driving race cars next year," said Martin, 52. "I'm just not going to be in any hurry to worry about that. I'm focused on 2011.
"I am really enjoying being a part of Hendrick Motorsports and going to work really hard to make a contribution to the organization ... and have some fun, too."
Martin finished second in points in 2009 and won five races with Hendrick but struggled last year and finished 13th in points with no wins.
After two seasons with crew chief Alan Gustafson, Martin will work with Lance McGrew as part of a shakeup of Hendrick crew chiefs announced shortly after the conclusion of the 2010 season.
