This Week in Racing: @ New Hampshire

Wednesday, Jun. 23, 2010

What: 301 laps or 318.5 miles

Where: New Hampshire Motor Speedway, a 1.058-mile flat paved oval located in Loudon, N.H.

When: 1 p.m. Sunday.

TV: TNT

Radio: Performance Racing Network

Last year’s winner: Joey Logano

Also this week: New England 200, Nationwide Series, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, 3 p.m. Saturday, ESPN2.

Worth mentioning: IndyCar Series driver Danica Patrick makes her return to NASCAR after a four-mouth hiatus in Saturday’s New England 200. She is ensured a spot in the field thanks to JR Motorsports running her No. 7 Chevrolet while she has been away. ... Sprint Cup driver Ryan Newman will start his weekend by racing the No. 7 Chevrolet led by New England native Kevin Manion in the Whelen Modified race on Saturday.

Who’s hot

Jimmie Johnson: Road course win is another item marked off the NASCAR “to do” list.

Carl Edwards: Earned his first – and Ford’s first – NASCAR win of the season with victory at Nationwide Series race at Road America.

Robby Gordon: If he still has it anywhere, it’s at a road course.

Kevin Harvick: He has the points lead. What he needs more of is bonus points for the Chase.

Who’s not

Marcos Ambrose: Stopping on the track can never be a good thing. Never.

Casey Mears: Red Bull and the rest of the teams thank you for your participation.

Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch: Worst weekend of season for these Joe Gibbs Racing drivers.
