Johnson downplays radio chatter

Jimmie Johnson said some much-parsed recent snippets of radio conversation between he and crew chief Chad Knaus are not a sign of a strained relationship in a mini-slump (two DNFs in his last three races), but a normal part of doing business at a high level.
These are the men, after all, whose acrimony in 2005 was settled with the now-legendary cookies and milk summit in team owner Rick Hendrick’s office. Since then, they’ve won four straight titles.
“It’s just part of it,” said Johnson, who is second in points and has three wins.
“People that have listened to the 48 over the years know that there are heated moments, and that is just part of any race team. Certainly the 48, we’re not immune to the emotion that takes place during the course of a race. It’s the same stuff and I think we’re doing a much better job at dealing with adversity this year, today in general, than we have from the start of our career and even last year.
"We make it colorful from time to time.”
