BRISTOL, Tenn. - Drivers Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski and team owners Jack Roush and Roger Penske filed in one by one Saturday morning for their made-for-media meeting with NASCAR officials at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The meeting was to discuss the drivers’ incidents on the race track two weeks ago at Atlanta, where Edwards, over 150 laps down, hit Keslowski late in the race. Keselowski’s No. 12 Dodge flipped and slammed into the retaining wall.
The two drivers emerged from the hauler, surrounded by a throng of media, smiling and shaking hands.
To ensure there was no missing the general intent behind the meeting, when asked how things went, Edwards replied, “It was really cool to be able to talk with Jack and Roger and Brad all at once. We laughed. We cried. In the end, I think it’s going to good.”
Penske called the meeting “just good, open communication.”
“They guys agreed that they’re going to race hard. They’re going to race fair and give themselves some room on the track so that we don’t become the poster boys every weekend for what’s happening," he said.
Keselowski emerged from the meeting and promptly won the pole for Saturday's Nationwide race at the track.
