Dale Jr. Foundation is helping homeless
Monday, Mar. 08, 2010
The Dale Jr. Foundation is donating a new trailer to Family Promise of Cabarrus County so homeless families served by the organization can have something to transport their possessions in from one local host church to another.
The non-profit Family Promise consists of 14 area churches that assist homeless families a week at a time.
The Dale Jr. Foundation is the charitable foundation of Mooresville-based NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.
The foundation will formally donate the trailer during a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at JR Motorsports, 349 Cayuga Drive in Mooresville.
Among those expected to attend are the driver's sister, Kelley Earnhardt, and their grandmother, Martha Earnhardt, who requested the donation be made to Family Promise. Kelley Earnhardt is co-owner and vice president of JR Motorsports.
Members of the Family Promise Board of Trustees will be present to accept the donation.
Homeless families also receive job counseling and access to social services through Family Promise.
