More from Monday's session of the Sprint NASCAR Media Tour hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway:

Tradin' seats at CMS

Charlotte Motor Speedway plans to install 15,000 new premium seats on the frontstretch to replace the cast-metal seats that have been there since the track opened in 1961.

Fans buying tickets for the same seats at all three Cup series events at the track this season will receive personalized, bronze nameplates on the new seats. And they can take home one of the old seats as keepsakes.

For more information, contact the speedway at (800) 455-3267.

Piquet off to slow start

Brazilian race car driver Nelson Piquet Jr. participated in a NASCAR Truck series test session with Red Horse Racing (RHR) at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway last week.

Piquet Jr., 24, most recently raced for Renault in Formula One and his father, Nelson Piquet, is a three-time F1 world champion.

“I think slowly it’s going to get more imbedded into me and I’m going to get more used to it. I still don’t feel comfortable in the truck,” the younger Piquet said.

Pit stops

JGR and CMS will host the Taylor’s Finish Line Festival on May 23 at the dragstrip to benefit Make-A-Wish and Levine Children’s Hospital. The event was the idea of J.D. and Melissa Gibbs. Their son, Taylor, was diagnosed with leukemia and is about to complete three years of chemotherapy treatments.

CMS has changed the start time of its spring Nationwide race on May 29 to 2:30 p.m.
