Weather fouled up schedule early
Friday, Dec. 18, 2009
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Danica Patrick’s first steps toward a possible NASCAR career will be pocked with puddles.
Intermittent downpours are saturating Daytona International Speedway and the area is forecast to be buffeted by two different systems throughout the day.
It seems highly unlikely at this point that the 27-year-old IndyCar star or the rest of the 50-plus cars assembled for a preseason ARCA test will make it onto the track.
Cool, dry weather is expected for the final two days of the test, when Patrick will begin preparing JR Motorsports’ No. 88 Chevrolet for the Feb. 6 ARCA opener at DIS.
Patrick readied for her day with a heaping bowl of oatmeal and some business with her assistant at a Daytona Beach local hotel restaurant, but it appears she’ll spend much of it practicing only for those maddening NASCAR rain delays.
