Army renews NASCAR, NHRA deals
Friday, Nov. 13, 2009
AVONDALE, Ariz. – The U.S. Army will continue to sponsor drivers in NASCAR and the NHRA next season.
The Army will be the primary sponsor for Ryan Newman in the Sprint Cup series and Tony Schumacher in drag racing's Top Fuel division.
Tony Schumacher has won five consecutive championships for the U.S. Army and is currently leading the points. Next season will be the Army's 10th as an NHRA sponsor.
The Army has been in NASCAR since 2003, but this season is its first with Newman and Stewart-Haas Racing. Newman has two poles this year and earned a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.
It is sponsoring Newman for 15 races in 2010.
The Army is only permitted to sign one-year sponsorship agreements.
