More racers being honored Saturday
Thursday, Oct. 08, 2009
Stock car racing legends Ned Jarrett and Bobby Allison will lead the inaugural induction ceremony for the RacersReunion Memory Lane Hall of Fame on Saturday in Mooresville, N.C.
Ten living motorsports figures from racing's past will be inducted along with five late racers in a 10 a.m. ceremony. Allison will be presenting host and Jarrett the emcee. An autograph session and car show are also scheduled.
The RacersReunion organization assists many of racing's lesser-known figures – and in some cases, their widows – with their medical bills and other expenses.
Inductees are Sam Ard, Dink Widenhouse, Buddy Arrington, James Hylton, Marvin Panch, Paul Goldsmith, Dave Marcis, Jake Elder, Paul Lewis and Neil Castles. The late racers Herman Beam, Gene Glover, Elmo Langley, Wendell Scott and G.C. Spencer are being honored.
