Hall announces ticket prices, calls them competitive

Admission to the NASCAR Hall of Fame will be $19.95 for adults, and $12.95 for kids ages 5-12, the hall announced Wednesday.
The prices are a few dollars more that for most sports halls, though the admission is more in line with other venues such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and less expensive than the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
“We researched 70 venues (to set ticket prices),” said Winston Kelley, executive director for the Hall of Fame. “We are steadfast in believing our guests will find competitive prices.”
The admission price doesn't include a simulator ride in a race car, which costs $5. If there were no separate cost for the simulator, it would be difficult to accommodate everyone who would want to ride, Kelley said.
The 150,000 square-foot hall is scheduled to open May 11. Tickets will be bought for a certain time, and go on sale Oct. 14.
That's the same day a voting panel will determine the first five people inducted. The induction ceremony will be held at the hall May 23, 2010.
The Hall of Fame's building is owned by the city of Charlotte and the hall is operated by the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.
