TV ratings down for race weekend
Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009
Fox's overnight ratings for coverage of Saturday night's Budweiser Shootout and Sunday's qualifying for the front row of the Daytona 500 were down from those posted for the events since last season.
The Shootout received a 4.1 national rating, down 9 percent from last season, according to Nielsen Media Research. Sunday's qualifying garnered a 2.1 rating, which was a 22 percent decline from a year ago.
The Shootout numbers were the lowest overnight ratings since it debuted on Fox in 2007. The network's event coverage did, however, win the ratings race for that time slot, Nielsen said.
