Tires, track temperature likely to affect NASCAR qualifying at Pocono Raceway

NASCAR’s new knockout-group qualifying gets a different look Friday at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania. Pocono is one of NASCAR’s longer tracks at 2.5 miles. Its three-cornered layout – nicknamed the “Tricky Triangle” – also makes Pocono distinctive.

Ed Negre, who fielded the car Dale Earnhardt drove in his first start in NASCAR’s premier series, died Wednesday in a hospice care center in Longview, Wash. He was 86.

Utter: Dover should be lauded, not ridiculed for confronting attendance issues

Attendance declines at Dover are nothing new and in fact the crowd Sunday wasn’t dramatically different from last spring’s race. Yet the response on social media this week would lead you to believe the bottom fell out of the track, even leaving some to belittle the efforts the track made in efforts to attract new fans.
