INDIANAPOLIS - Reed Sorenson turned his first Nextel Cup pole into his second-best career finish in one of the series’ biggest races.
Sorenson started from the pole and led 16 laps in Sunday's Allstate 400; he led three in all previous 19 races this season. He finished fifth, one spot below his career-best earlier this season at Charlotte.
“It’s definitely one of the highlights of my career,” Sorenson said. “The last two weeks have been good.
"I won the Busch race last weekend (at St. Louis). The guys had a great car for me this weekend to get a pole and a top five.”
