In new post, Charlotte track alum Jerry Gappens already working to get presidential race on track

    The Charlotte Observer

    Monday, Jan. 07, 2008

Former Lowe’s Motor Speedway vice president Jerry Gappens is wasting no time in warming up the hype machine now that he’s on the job at his new post as general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Gappens said the track will invite the top vote-getter in Tuesday’s Democratic and Republican presidential primaries to each serve as honorary pace car drivers at one of the track’s two Sprint Cup race this year – on June 29 and Sept. 14.
