Rain at Michigan also dilutes TV ratings

Tuesday’s rain-delayed coverage of the Nextel Cup race at Michigan on ESPN2 received a 1.7 national rating, according Nielsen Media Research.
The rating is the lowest for a Cup race this season, but was twice delayed and started on a weekday morning.
Sunday’s prerace coverage on ESPN received a 1.5 rating and still ranked among the week’s top-10 sporting events.
Last Saturday’s Busch Series race received a 1.2 rating on ESPN2, down from a 1.8 last season on TNT.
