Race pushed to Tuesday for 1st time in modern era

    dpoole@charlotteobserver.com

    Monday, Aug. 20, 2007

The 3M Peformance 400 at Michigan International Speedway is sailing -- almost literally -- into uncharted NASCAR waters.

Rain washed out the race for a second straight day on Monday, forcing NASCAR to attempt to run a Nextel Cup race on a Tuesday for the first time in the sport's modern era.

The postponed race will air at 10 a.m. on ESPN2.
