    TV ratings also off for Martinsville Cup race

    HAMPTON, Ga. - Last Sunday?s Nextel Cup race at Martinsville, Va., received a 3.7 national rating on ABC, down 10 percent from last year's race, according to Nielsen Media Research.

    Each of the six Chase for the Nextel Cup races this season have shown ratings decline from 2006.

    Last year's Martinsville race received a 4.1 rating on NBC. Sunday's broadcast was interrupted on the West Coast by local affiliate coverage of the wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

    Last Saturday?s Truck series race on Speed Channel was up 17 percent over 2006 and received a 0.6 rating.
