  • Atlanta TV ratings down 17 percent

    TV ratings for the Oct. 28 Nextel Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway were down 17 percent from a year ago, according to Nielsen Media Research.

    Water found in more teams' fuel

    Contamination possibly caused crash in Atlanta

    Several more Nextel Cup teams that ran in the Pep Boys Auto 500 found evidence of water contamination in their fuel systems after examinations requested by NASCAR.

    No choirs sang. There was no trumpet fanfare. Dale Earnhardt Jr. tested with his new team for the first time Monday at 1.5-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway, driving a Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet as a two-day test for the car of tomorrow opened.
