HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Kyle Busch still wonders what could have been.

Even with eight Nationwide Series wins this season, 11 runner-up finishes and a guaranteed series championship as soon as he takes the green flag in Saturday's Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Busch still looks for more.

"You know, what would be impressive is if those 11 second-place finishes were wins," Busch said. "That would be 19 wins. That's what's stupid. That's what's silly."

Busch's statistics this season are astounding.

He has 29 top-10 finishes in 34 starts. He has series records for runner-up finishes and laps led (2,625) with one race remaining.

During one 10-race stretch this summer, Busch finished first (three times) or second (seven times).

"It'll be my first NASCAR championship, so of course it would mean a lot to me. I haven't won a championship since 1999 when I was racing Legends cars," Busch said.

"It's big to win any NASCAR championship, no matter what division it is."
