McReynolds cries foul over quotes
Friday, Oct. 30, 2009
It's something, isn't it, how the media covering stock car racing can draw so much interest in the days leading up to such an important playoff race?
After all, this weekend's NASCAR race is at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. And it's the seventh of the 10 races that will determine the 2009 championship. If you've been watching TV or reading, you already know it's the "wild card" event that could very well "shuffle the deck" in the Chase standings.
But, as nail-biting as the race to season's end has been, veteran reporter Dustin Long's compelling interviews with TV's Jimmy Spencer, Kyle Petty and Larry McReynolds are a pretty strong hand.
Plus, the responses to the remarks and Long's blog posts – from NASCAR officials and a clearly outraged McReynolds – up the ante considerably.
The Daly Planet's posts on the McReynolds meltdown and many of the comments there also make for equally compelling reading.
So, if you haven't already joined in the fun, we'd urge checking those out. It's a safe bet that this could get even more interesting.
