NASCAR says Milwaukee track fees past due

LOUDON, N.H. - The Milwaukee Mile, which hosted NASCAR Truck and Nationwide races last weekend, owes NASCAR a significant amount of its sanctioning fee for hosting those races, The Observer and ThatsRacin.com have learned.
However, all teams participating in last weekend’s races have been paid based on their finishes, NASCAR officials said Friday.
Without directly addressing the monetary issues, NASCAR confirmed Friday it had “outstanding issues” with the track.
“Despite having a terrific day of NASCAR racing last Saturday, there remain outstanding issues which concern NASCAR,” series spokesman Ramsey Poston said.
“As a matter of policy, I won’t get into specifics of our business dealings. However, I can say we are working closely with the track management to resolve the outstanding issues.”
Track officials declined to comment.
The issue could affect the ability of the track to obtain race dates again in the 2010 season, multiple sources said Friday.
The Mile first hosted a NASCAR race in 1984 in what is now the Nationwide Series. It has hosted a Truck race annually since the series’ inception 1995.
Ron Hornaday won last weekend’s Truck series race while Carl Edwards won the Nationwide race.
